Handbag confidential 02: Louis Vuitton

Image
Welcome to the second handbag confidential post, click to read the first . For years now I've admired Louis Vuitton bags. To me, they are a timeless classic and can't go out of style. Although, I'm not a fan of the Damier Azur. I now own both of the styles I had always wished for, and in the patterns I wanted most. Both are special to me and have happy memories attached. Today I am going to focus on the first one I got, my Damier Speedy 25, which I bought in 2012. We've been on a few exciting journeys since then. I bought this bag while on vacation in Paris with my brother. In the months leading up to the trip I saved, and saved because the cost was (is?) significantly less there. Unfortunately, I was a bit short when we left. I was disappointed, but what can you do? I still had an exciting trip to look forward to! Then, on one of our last days, my dad called and said he'd help out with the remaining amount. I feel I should mention, this trip came around th...

Fashion: Transitioning from hot to (very) warm

Image
Well, autumn seems to have come to Austin. The weather has gone from hot (100+) and humid, to low humidity and, slightly, cooler weather (90s). Mentally, I am in full-autumn mode, I want to be wearing sweaters, or light jackets, jeans, etc. these days. This is my first time living in an area that isn't starting to get properly cold at this point, so I've been figuring out ways to mix my fall favourites with the summer-like heat. Light sweaters and shorts seem to be my favourite so far, so here's a look similar to what I've been wearing. 151009 by andiekp13 featuring a white sweater

Friday Fashion: OotD & Modcloth's Style Surprise

Image
On Weds. I received the dress and apparel item from respective categories of Modcloth's Style Surprise. Last time, I got a gorgeous dress and a  cool pair of boots. So, I was feeling optimistic as I added the items to my cart this time. For those who aren't as obsessed with Modcloth as I am, the Style Surprise is set up by category, and you choose your size to receive a surprise item at a discounted price. This time it was $20 for dresses, and $15 for apparel. The top I got through the apparel option is awesome. It's not a colour I would normally choose, but I find myself liking it. It's loose, light, and soft, but does need a cami underneath. On Thurs. I wore it with a pair of distressed jean shorts from Target, my Bonlook Skunkboy glasses, a Kate Spade bag, and a pair of black flats from Modcloth (not pictured). The dress was a disappointment, it's cheaply made and almost completely see-through. A quick search of the brand led to the discovery that Nordstr...

Handbag confidential 01: Elie Tahari

Image
I LOVE handbags, I am a firm believer that a good handbag instantly upgrades most outfits. Handbags are the only area in my wardrobe I save up and "splurge" on. As such, each bag has a story to its purchase that I remember whenever I wear it. I remember reading Hey Claire's Closet Confidential posts and loving the idea. So, I'm going to take inspiration from it and do the same with my handbags.  The bag, and my outfit with it today First up is my Elie Tahari bag. I've had this one for four years now. I was first introduced to the designer when Elle Magazine took my dad and I to, and backstage, his fashion week show in February of 2011. After browsing around his website, and snooping in Lord & Taylor, I fell in love with this bag. I decided to ask my dad to split the cost with me for my birthday that April. Initially I rarely used it. I was terrified of staining or damaging the leather in anyway. It is the softest leather I've ever felt, and the co...

Fantastically pink sparkly glasses

Image
I've been eying these since Skunkboy announced her collaboration with Bonlook. I missed out the first time they went on sale, since my prescription doesn't include my PD. However! A couple weekends ago they were back on sale. So, I stopped by the optic center while we were at Costco. Skunkboy in "Posey Pink" I am in love with the colour, which is the most perfect pastel pink that's not too powdery. The vintage shape is very different from my usual frame choices, but these are meant to be my fun pair. Also, how can you complain about glitter? I ordered a pair of prescription sunnies from Bonlook, as well. I'm really impressed with the quality of both pairs. I would definitely order from them again. They have have the cutest pink cases, which come in these lovely white boxes to protect them. And with this, Friday is my fashion day (glasses count as an accessory, sort of...right?)

Long or short? (Hair, that is)

Image
I've decided. Wednesday is the day I post about beauty because there is no better mid-week pick up than, say, a new lipstick. Am I right? Tomorrow I have my first hair appointment in almost a year. I know some women love going to get their hair done, but I dread it. Something always goes wrong, usually with my bangs. I'm particular about my hair. It's naturally very curly, and I like those curls a certain way. I am also beyond picky when it comes to my bangs. However, I'm still torn on whether to stay with long hair or go back to short... Tiffany and Taylor make me want to stay with long hair. Taylor for the curls. Tiffany because I love the way her see-through bangs look with long hair. My bangs are in a similar style. I LOVED Emma Stone's hair for the Spiderman premiere. It's cute, stylish, and the perfect length. Sooyoung's new cut is super-chic, and it's put me in the just-cut-it mood. I'll make a decision by tomorrow afternoon, at...

A few July favourites

Image
I tend to go through a phase every summer where I re-read, and this year was no exception. However, there were a couple of new ones, including The Silkworm . It kept pace well, and I could not put it down. Park Ji Yoon's " Yoo Hoo " is my perfect feel-good, summer song. Loving this dice necklace, it is perfect dressed up or down, and so cute! It was made by my grandfather for my mother, which makes it even more special to me. In terms of beauty, I am obsessed with Pixi's Shea Butter Lip Balm in Coral Crush. In addition to being an amazing colour, it's moisturizing and lasts - perfect! Also, this BuzzFeed post made me smile. I love my curls, but they can be a nuisance :)

Lip crayons, a make-up must

Image
Crayons? Markers? Jumbo lip pencils? Regardless of what you call them, they are a staple in my make-up routine. I am pretty simple in my daily makeup. In addition to base makeup, I usually go for a natural eye, an orange lip and a little blush. Sometimes I switch up the lip colour, but most days it is a shade of orange. L-R: CoverGirl: Ballet Twist. Revlon: Demure, Sweetheart, Rendezvous, Mischievous I love the lip crayons because they are so easy and long wearing, Revlon's are probably my absolute favourite. I have tried the Clinique and tarte ones, but in the end these are the ones I constantly reach for. 1. CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm 210 Ballet Twist A pretty, sheer pink. It adds a hint of shine and to the lips. I like it on days when I want a my-lips-but-better look. As the name states, it is more of a balm and therefore is not particularly long-wearing. However, it feels nice on the lips, not at all drying. 2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Sta...

Makeup Inspiration: Nam Gyuri & SPICA

Image
I am pretty routine with my makeup, I wear variations of the same look every day, but these looks have me wanting to try something a bit different. photos found here Nam Gyuri 남규리 for "Sure" magazine The look on the left is a soft and shimmery rose-hued look that is perfect for spring. I have definitely been loving all the rose gold recently (and am naturally just waiting until my local Sephora or Ulta has the Naked 3 in stock). The look on the right is pretty natural, but features a bold statement lip. It reminds me of Cheon Song Yi's (Jeon Ji Hyun) looks in 별에서 온 그대. SPICA'S retro style for "You Don't Love Me" Matte lips, full lashes and heavy liner. I love the retro, but modern feel of the makeup in this MV. I'm not sure how daring I am with eyeliner, because I generally don't wear it. However, I'm thinking it might be time to try again. Check out the MV here .

Snowed-in cozy day

Image
Today was actually supposed to be the first day of school, which is exciting because it's my last semester! However, it snowed and classes were cancelled. Not that I'm complaining, I love snow!   When it's snowing, if I don't need to drive, I won't. And since I'm within walking distance of nothing, I generally stay in comfy clothes and do things that need to be done around the house . My snow-day essentials: 1. Sweatpants, I just think these are cute 2. A loose top because I pretty much live in over-sized tops 3. Slippers 4. My favourite Earl Gray in a cute mug, because I've an obsession with mugs 5. TV show marathon - currently I'm watching Merlin s.3! 6. A good book  Other than that, it's tea, tv and good book weather! I've been marathon-ing s3 of Merlin on Netflix, which is perfect because I can have it on in the background. I LOVE this show, I watched the first couple seasons a long time ago. Actually, I remember that I watched ...

Beauty haul: Skinfood, Etude House, Nature Republic

Image
This is a collective haul, and mini reviews, from the past couple months. I was running out of my Etude House BB Cream and needed a replacement, which I did get, along with a few other items. ^^

Beauty Review: Innisfree Great Tea Pure skincare (이니스프리)

Image
This is definitely a long overdue post. Over the course of the semester I sort of forgot I’d planned to do a review on the products of this haul . I remembered while using the lotion the other day.    SNSD YoonA for Innisfree Needless to say, I’ve had more than enough time to test and use the products. I actually ran out of the cleanser over the summer, but the lotion and a couple of the serum samples are still around. As I mentioned previously, the scent for this line is light and pleasant, and I can’t stand overly perfumed skincare products.

Style: Tae Gong-sil of Master's Sun (주군의 태양)

Image
As I've already mentioned, my latest drama obsession is Master's Sun. The basic story follows a young woman who can see ghosts (Tae Gong-sil) and a CEO with a mysterious past (Joo Joong-won). The two meet, learn to trust each other, and of course fall in love. The drama is currently airing with great success and is a product of the Hong Sisters (The Greatest Love, You're Beautiful, My Girl, etc.). The main cast includes 공효진 Gong Hyo-jin, 소지섭 So Ji-sub, and 서인국 Seo In-guk. Tae Gong-sil and Joo Joong-won Tae Gong-sil (Gong Hyo-jin) has a very relaxed style in this drama. She tends to wear a lot of basics and has a love of layering. I decided to play around with some of her looks from the drama to create my own versions.

Beauty Haul: Innisfree & Etude House

Image
Today I have a somewhat small beauty product haul to share. I feel I should mention that I love makeup and there are many cosmetic/skincare shops here in Seoul. Just around the corner from Konkuk there is a street filled with them. Innisfree, Etude House, Tony Moly, Skinfood, Nature's Republic... I'm sure I'm missing some... Airport style and leaving for Seoul tomorrow

Image
Well, it's finally my last night in NJ before I leave to study abroad in Seoul. It's VERY exciting, but also a little terrifying. I found out I was accepted back in October, so it's felt a little unreal since then. Now that I am staring at fully packed bags it definitely feels real. I've checked in for my flight, set out my clothes (airport fashion :P ), and have only a couple things left out. My airport style is pretty much always the same: leggings, a loose comfy top, cardigan, and scarf. With Ugg boots because they are basically slippers you can wear out, though I always change into fuzzy socks for the flight :) Speaking of airports and style, airport fashion is a total guilty pleasure. I'm not sure how it all started, but Korean celebrities have some of the best fashion... at the airport. This will be my last post from the States for a while, so I will see you soon from Seoul :)

Choosing a suitcase

Image
If there is one thing every traveler needs it’s a suitcase and I am not sure I can take one more trip with mine. I have two definite trips coming up in the near future, one to Austin, TX for the holidays and, of course, studying abroad next semester. With this weekend being one of “amazing sales and deals” here in the States, I am feeling the pressure to make a decision quickly. Well, Miss Jiji certainly likes it. My suitcase is actually not about to fall apart; at this point I am convinced it is indestructible . The issue is, it’s a bit embarrassing.   I bought the set when I was around 12 years old, so about 10 years ago now. At the time I loved it, but as an adult I’m not so sure. Part of me thinks the Hawaiian print is incredibly tacky and part of me thinks it’s kind of cute. I don't think I've gone anywhere in the past couple of years without at least one person commenting on it. It is popular with little girls and amusing to just about everyone else. So, i...
