I previously shared photos of Konkuk's campus and the KU:L House dorms , and today I have the final post of photos from Kondae. These are just a few of the general area around the school and places we used to go all the time. Leaving the dorms you have two options, this is sort of the "back roads" way. My friend and I joked we were stalking those girls, and I had a camera. So yes, I felt a bit like a creep. Delivery dudes don't give a s***t about pedestrians, road rules. Entrance to campus. By the way, I know the guy in the picture. He was a running joke for us, because I was told he was a "free man." I never remembered his name, but he would greet me around campus, and I would just think, "it's the free man." Walking past the hospital to the metro station. Lotte Department Store, across the street from Kondae. Star City- the movie theatre is in here, emart, several restaurants, cafes and shops. I doubt a week went ...

I left the last post with a photo of the forest path that leads to the dorms, so here I'm going to pick up the tour with the dorms! Living in the dorms at Kondae is a bit different than living in dorms in the States. The rules are definitely stricter than my own school's (although the commonality is no alcohol!). Here's a few: Boys and girls are kept secret and cannot enter each other's halls  No guests!  You have to scan your card to get in and out of the building.  Somewhat enforced curfew (which I broke a couple times)  Point system - you get points when you break a rule. I only remember that breaking curfew was two. If you are only staying for one semester, these don't affect you. So you can kinda collect as many as you wish. If you are going back, these can get you kicked out of the dorm in the next semester. The dorm area, when the weather's nice there is always people sitting outside or wandering about. The library and statue of the founder My last day at Konkuk I decided I had to take pictures of the campus, and some of the surrounding area. So my friend and I walked around all of campus, to the subway station, up the middle gate and past Star City across the street. These are just some, and this isn't the entire campus. I have a couple more posts that will go up over the next few weeks. By the way, these were taken mostly while walking around the lake. I started at the bottom of the hill up to the dorms and went straight/left. The top set of questions I am asked about studying abroad are related to classes, so this is a write up on my experiences as a student at Konkuk from an academic standpoint compared to my home university. I hope it helps!  L: The Liberal Arts building, where most of my classes at Konkuk were. R: Center of campus at my home university.   I should preface this by saying that classes were a slight disappointment in studying abroad, but I didn’t place high priority on academics. My priorities in studying abroad were to travel and experience a new culture, etc. I also couldn’t take any classes in my major, because the credits could not be transferred back to my home school.

Yes, today's post is a little silly. But, I was thinking about it in class today and remembered how nice having a proper desk is. I think most American college students can relate to how insanely small our college desks are. My notebook is larger than the table-space. The "desk" is, in reality, a wing on one side of the chair. Ninety percent of them are created for the right-handed too, which is a spot of bad luck for me (I'm a lefty).   My desk in Korea had a full table attached to the bottom of the chair. I would say it's the middle school size in this chart . On either side of the desk, there were hooks to hang your bag. The bag hook was definitely a nice perk, I still feel a bit squeamish about placing my handbag on the floor. I do have a more in-depth post coming about the differences I experienced between college here and in Seoul. I'm not sure if it will be one post or more, but I will go into actual classes, student life, etc.

This week is Konkuk University's festival, starting yesterday and ending on Thursday. Although I didn't take many any photos, I did manage to get a few with my phone during K.Will's performance. It was exciting to walk back on campus from getting bubble tea to him performing out front one of the buildings. I was actually not that far from the stage, but my camera makes it look like I was way in the back, I don't know why. He sang a total of five songs, including my three favourites (I don't remember the other ones names): - 이러지마 제발 (Please Don't...) - 러브블러썸 (Love Blossom) - 가슴이 뛴다 (My Heart is Beating) Talking with the MCs before performing, he's so charming! I think he was singing Love Blossom at this point. Lots of people came to see him perform and I know for fact they were not all KU students. Ah! See the camera guy in this shot? After our excursion to 경주 Gyeongju on Saturday we've all been a bit lazy the past couple days. On Sunday 3 of us decided to try 팥빙수 since we weren't up to doing much after the dorm festival the night before (more on that later). The school festival starts tomorrow, which is super exciting! I've heard Epik High is coming on Weds (the school's founding day).    The weather has taken a sudden jump here in Seoul to the '80s (F) which means time to try 팥빙수 (patbingsu). My friends and I shared the strawberry one from Cafe Bene. It was so delicious! 팥빙수 is a popular warm-weather dessert here. It's made with shaved ice, red beans, sweet condensed milk, sometimes fruit and ice cream (such as ours!) It's a must try ^.^  Tonight whilst wandering campus my friends and I decided to go onto the roof of the student union building.
