The Sunday Post 03

I didn't used to make any sort of resolutions or goals for myself at the new year. However, for some reason in the past few years I always find the first few days of January a time when I think about my life and things I maybe want to change, stop altogether, or start afresh. In 2016 I will... ...not be participating in Goodreads Reading Challenge. This became a constant competition for me last year. I felt as though I had to read more, faster, rather than just enjoy a good book for however long I felt like reading it. ...start volunteering at least bi-weekly. The combination of starting a new job and moving in the past couple months meant that I didn't volunteer at all in November and December. I always have a ton of fun with the awesome staff, volunteers, and kitties. ...work out at least once a week, and stretch everyday. I can't believe how tight all of my muscles feel after two months of not stretching. Also, I hate working out. So, I'm hoping this will b...

Farewell 2015, it's been amazing

Image
This year was surprising in so many amazing ways. I never could have predicted that this year's highlights would contain half of the things it does. In 2015 I... ...started the year as a teacher in Korea. I made amazing friends and loved going into Seoul almost every weekend to meet up with them. I also learned quite a bit through my job. ...moved to Austin, a place I NEVER thought I would live. ...finally started volunteering at an animal shelter after years of saying I wanted to, but not following through. ...adopted Mochi and Pekoe! I seriously adore these kittens, they are just the sweetest pair of kitties. Adopting two was definitely not my plan going into adopting Mochi, but I couldn't resist her only brother. So, Pekoe joined us three days later, and I couldn't be happier. They've adjusted to the new place just fine ^^ ...got my first job in the US, and I'm loving it, which would probably surprise you if you knew what it is. ...bought a h...

Happy Halloween

May your day be spooktacular ! The cats and I are just about to snuggle down and watch Hocus Pocus. Best Halloween movie, hands down (in my opinion, but I don't like scary films!). New post coming up tomorrow ^^

Happy New Year, it's 2015!

새해 복 많이 받으세요~  2014 was another amazing year, and 2015 has quite a bit to live up to. I don't have such clear-cut exciting plans as I did in years previous, but I still think there is potential for 2015 to be just as amazing. In 2014 I... ...graduated from university, with honours! My last semester was so much better than I ever could have imagined. ...moved out New Jersey, possibly permanently. I spent most of my life in NJ, but with no family, or school, it seems unlikely I will live there again anytime soon. ...moved to Korea and started working! I also am loving both, for the most part. Those kids can bee annoying at times ;) In 2015 I... ...will continue to live in Korea and work as a teacher, haha. ...blog/write more. I seriously miss it and feel out-of-practice, which I don't like. ... ... Like I said, I don't have specific plans, so I'll keep it open-ended for now.

Hello 2014, let's be amazing!

This year has some guaranteed excitement ahead, but it has a lot to live up to when I look at 2013. As I said the other day, 2013 was a pretty awesome year for me. So, here are some of my 2014 plans/goals!  Happy New Year!!! Different type of selca this year ^_~ 1. I’m graduating university in May. This is the single most thrilling and terrifying thought for me. I have been a student for so long that I’m a combination of sick of it and uncertain what it will be like without that identity.  2. This spring I will be coeditor-in-chief of my campus newspaper! It’s something I said I wanted to become when I was intro to journalism. At the time I was half joking, but later realized it was true. So, this is extremely exciting for me!  3. Applying to teach English in Korea. Teaching overseas is something I’ve wanted to do between undergrad and grad school for ages. It seems unreal that I now will actually be applying to do so. It’s even crazier to think that I will ...

Looking back at 2013

Image
Last year I did a quick round up of some exciting moments from 2012, and reading them now is quite fun. So, here are five from this year. ^^ Just like last year, a sunset shot. Sadly, I didn't bring my camera to TX this year. 1. I finally studied abroad in Seoul! And it was one of the best experiences of my life. I learned so much during the months I was there, tried new foods, new experiences and met amazing friends, whom I still miss tons.  2. Academically, the semesters of this year were opposites. In the spring, I waffled through the easiest one of my college career. In the fall, I had my hardest, with six challenging courses that kept me extremely busy. However, my confidence in my work expanded a great deal this fall, which is why this is here. 3. I won an award for feature writing from the New Jersey Press Association for two of my articles. I didn’t even know I was entered in the contest until my professor emailed me to say I’d won. Very exciting!  4. I w...

Christmas daytrip in NYC

Image
Tree at Rockefeller Plaza As I mentioned yesterday, I went into NYC on Sunday for some Christmas-related fun. I forgot how completely packed it is this time of year. I haven’t been in years, and now I think I remember why. With the freakishly warm weather, it was a pretty good day to walk around! I snapped a few photos here and there of some Christmas-related decorations I saw. Normally these photo posts are of my time in Korea, but I wasn't there at Christmas and, since this post is going up Christmas day, I thought these more befitting.

Happy New Year 2013, Goodbye 2012!

Happy New Year! 새해 복 많이 받으세요!  It’s hard to believe that 2012 is already in its last hours (if you are in the USA, that is). Sometimes when you look back on a year you find yourself thinking, “I accomplished nothing.”   That’s never really true though, regardless of whether you reached your New Year’s resolution. Truthfully, I forget what my resolutions were last year. Or if I even made any, but either way this year was not without accomplishments and highlights.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Here in the States its Thanksgiving Day and I'll be spending the day cooking with friends. Every year I look forward to cooking, the Macy's parade and the Purina dog show. As I type this I am actually watching the Broadway performances that start the parade. I think I have to see Cinderella when it hits the stage. Check out this fun slideshow of the Parade through the years from Conde Nast Traveler. Snoopy in 1970. Photo Credit: NBC
