제주 Jeju Excursion: Seopjikoji (섭지코지)

It’s hard to believe over a month has passed since the last time I posted the last one on our Jeju excursion, which was to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (성산 일출봉).

The second stop on day two was to Seopjikoji (섭지코지). This was one of my favourite spots of the ones we went to in Jeju; it’s very pretty there. Also I was told this was one the filming locations for the drama “Winter Sonata” (I actually haven’t watched it; it seemed a bit too dramatic for my taste…).

The coastline is entirely rock, but you can climb all around them. The only downside is that the area is covered in bugs. If I remember correctly, they were cockroaches. Either way, they were large and just ugh (not a bug fan here).

The orange spots are actually the haenyeo (해녀), female divers, of Jeju. They are well known sight to Jeju and dive to gather clams, abalone, etc. You can read about the 'mermaids of Jeju' in detail here

There are little pools of water in the rocks that have bits of shell, little fish and crabs living in them.

I can’t remember what this is, if you do please let me know in the comments! :)

The lighthouse on the cliff, around April the fields and cliff-side will be covered in yellow flowers.

The “All In House” and Seondol (선돌)

Bongsudae (봉수대) – beacon tower, this one still has its original form and measures 9m in length and width, 4m in height.

These little flowers were growing in the rocks of the shoreline. Pretty, eh?
